A 50% tax credit: pay half, right away

When cleaning or window washing is carried out inside your home in France, half of what you spend comes back to your household. With the Urssaf immediate advance, that half is taken off the invoice on the spot, with no wait until your next tax return. The scheme is open to French tax residents only.

A benefit written into French law, not a discount

The tax credit for services performed in the home is set out in article 199 sexdecies of the French tax code. It gives back half of what you spend, up to an annual ceiling, provided the work happens inside your home and is billed through a body registered for services à la personne.

The wording matters: this is a credit, not a mere deduction. If you owe no income tax, the amount is paid out to you; if you owe less than the sum calculated, the balance is refunded. Working, retired, taxed or untaxed households all get the same rate, with no means testing.

It covers your main residence and your holiday home alike, whether you own or rent. A flat by the lake, a chalet lived in a few weeks a year: as long as you occupy it yourself, housekeeping and windows qualify. The one condition that never moves is tax residency in France.

The immediate advance, step by step

The immediate advance is a free, optional service run by Urssaf, the French social security collection agency. You no longer front the second half of the cost: it is removed from the invoice as you pay. Here is the whole path, seen from your side.

01

Signing you up

We pass your request to the cooperative, online or on a paper form. Your identity, contact details and personal bank details are enough.

02

The Urssaf email

Urssaf writes to you. You then have seven days to activate your account on particulier.urssaf.fr, accept the terms and sign the direct debit mandate.

03

We come to your home

We carry out the work described in the quote, on the date agreed together, with our own professional equipment.

04

The invoice, then your approval

The cooperative issues the invoice and Urssaf asks you to confirm it. You have 48 hours to approve or dispute it; with no reply, it goes through automatically.

05

Half is debited

Urssaf debits half the amount from the account you registered. That is the only money that leaves your pocket.

06

And you are done

The other half is paid by Urssaf straight to the cooperative. Nothing to front, nothing to claim back the following year.

One point of transparency: the invoice is issued by the Unipros cooperative, registered for services à la personne under number SAP850484650, and our company appears on it as the provider. That is what makes the scheme possible, and it is also your safeguard: the money moves through Urssaf and a registered body, never through a private arrangement.

The services that qualify at your home

These jobs fall within services à la personne when they are carried out at a private client's home. Each card opens the full description.

When the tax credit does not apply

Two situations sit outside the scheme, and we would rather say so plainly. First, work invoiced to a company, a building association or a public body: the benefit is for private clients in their own home. Second, property you let out: cleaning between two tenants, and upkeep paid by a landlord for a rented unit, are excluded. We still take on both kinds of job, simply on our usual terms.

Ceilings and conditions

The rules worth knowing before you sign up, with nothing buried in small print.

12,000 € of spending a year

The ceiling applies per tax household and per calendar year. It can be raised depending on who lives in the household.

French tax residents

The benefit is reserved for people tax resident in France, for a property located in the country.

Main or holiday home

The property must be yours and lived in by you, whether you own it or rent it.

Deposits are paid separately

If the quote includes a deposit, it is settled the usual way. Only the invoice runs through the immediate advance.

APA and PCH

People receiving these care allowances cannot use the immediate advance. The standard route to the tax credit stays open to them.

A certificate every year

Early each year the cooperative issues the tax certificate for the year just ended, in your client area.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the tax credit

The points our private clients raise most often, answered plainly.

  • Anyone tax resident in France who has a home service carried out inside their own property. Employed or retired, taxed or not, owner or tenant: there is no income test and no age limit. The property can be your main residence or your holiday home.

  • Yes, and that is the whole point of the mechanism. Because it is a credit rather than a deduction, a household that owes nothing still receives the money. If your tax bill is smaller than the sum calculated, the balance is refunded to you.

  • Only in timing. Without it, you pay the full invoice, report the spending on your tax return the following spring and get half back later that year. With the immediate advance, that half is removed as you pay the invoice, so there is no waiting and no cash tied up.

  • We register you with the cooperative, then Urssaf sends you an activation email. You create your account on particulier.urssaf.fr within seven days, accept the terms and enter bank details in your own name, from a personal rather than a business account. You only do this once.

  • The cooperative issues the invoice and Urssaf asks you to confirm it from your account. You have 48 hours to approve it or flag a problem; if you do nothing, it is approved automatically. The debit for half the amount follows.

  • Because the benefit requires a body registered for services à la personne, and the cooperative is the one holding that registration, under number SAP850484650. Our company appears on the document as the provider: we do the work, the cooperative issues the invoice and handles the link with Urssaf. No commission is added along the way.

  • Yes, as long as you use it yourself. A family house in the Val d'Arly, a resort apartment lived in for a few weeks a year, both fit. As soon as the property is offered for rent, however, the work tied to that activity falls outside the scheme.

  • Early each year the cooperative provides a tax certificate summing up what you paid over the previous year. You download it from your client area, and the relevant amounts arrive pre-filled on your return.

  • No, recipients of those two French care allowances are excluded from the immediate advance service. The tax credit itself remains available the standard way, by declaring the spending the following year.
