Méribel is stacked along a single valley, the Allues valley: the hamlets of Le Raffort, Chandon and Nantgerel at around 1,100 m, Méribel-Village, the centre around La Chaudanne at 1,450 m, the chalets of the Altiport and the Belvédère, then Mottaret at 1,750 m at the foot of the slopes. Here the wood-and-stone chalet is the rule, often let directly by owners who live far away, many of them in the UK. We drive up from Ugine via Albertville, Moûtiers and Brides-les-Bains, on a Tarentaise round organised for the whole season, and we send you a report after every visit: you do not need to be on site.
